Saluting Event Volunteers

The first few months of each and every year on King Island are packed with exciting and varied events, none of which would occur without support from an army of local volunteers. For an island with a population of some 1600 people to hold a weekend-long music festival, a series of horse races, a food festival and Australia’s only coast-to-coast footrace is nothing short of miraculous and is proof of the recent findings that King Island has the top participation level for volunteers in Tasmania.

Of course, the volunteering doesn’t stop with these events and continues throughout the year with the legendary three team football league, a string of arts events, the monthly local produce markets and countless other inspiring activities keeping visitors and locals busy throughout the year.
