Relax at this unique and tranquil getaway. Set in a beautiful location in Currie; conveniently 10 minutes drive from the airport and just five to the Main Street, ‘The Roaring Forties’ (previously Shannon Cottage) has views of the Southern Ocean, Currie Harbour and Lighthouse. The sounds of the ocean waves and winds are always present and the skies are ever-changing making this a special place from which to explore the wonders and beauty of magical King Island.
The cottage has a central lounge/dining room which includes a gas heater, a kitchen with small laundry, three bedrooms: the main bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom a double, and the third a queen and two singles. There is one bathroom with a shower, vanity and corner spa bath, and a separate toilet (small space).
The cottage was built in the 1980s and has not been renovated substantially since. It has some little quirks that appreciate gentleness.Its situation on the West coast of King Island means it experiences the wild weather conditions which are part of this unique island’s location. But it is cosy and weatherproof when the winds and rain of the roaring forties come.
