King Island Holiday Voucher
WHAT IS THE KING ISLAND HOLIDAY VOUCHER?
The King Island Holiday Voucher program is designed to encourage travel to King Island over winter. This is a joint project of Tourism Tasmania and King Island Tourism. The Holiday Voucher is only open to application by residents aged over 18 residing in the states of Victoria or Tasmania at the time of the ballot application. It is subject to the Tasmanian Public Health Directions and associated travel restrictions that apply to residents of eligible states at the time of registering for the ballot.
HOW DO I ENTER?
The consumer ballot can be entered online at: www.kingisland.org.au.
The ballot registration period opens from 9:00 am, 7th April 2022 (AEST) and closes at 5:00 pm, 10th April (AEST). Winners will be chosen at random and notified by email and SMS on 11th April 2022.
HOW DO YOU PROVE YOU’RE FROM VICTORIA OR TASMANIA?
The entry form will ask applicants to select a form of ID and enter a home address to verify they are residents of either Victoria or Tasmania. King Island Tourism Inc. reserves the right to request sight of the identification document before or after a King Island Holiday Voucher is redeemed.
HOW MUCH IS THE VOUCHER FOR AND HOW CAN THEY BE USED?
There will be 700 x $300 Holiday Vouchers distributed through a ballot process. This can be used to purchase accommodation, car hire, tours, activities, experiences and King Island products/services on the King Island Tourism Website booking portal at www.kingisland.org.au.
WHEN ARE THE TRAVEL PERIODS FOR THE KING ISLAND HOLIDAY VOUCHERS?
The King Island Holiday Voucher eligible travel period is between 1 May to 31 July 2022.
WHEN IS THE BOOKING PERIOD?
The booking period is between 11th April to 20th April 2022.
WHY IS THE BOOKING/TRAVEL PERIOD SO SHORT?
We are incentivising travel in the critical period to encourage visitation in winter.
IS THERE ANY POTENTIAL TO EXTEND THE TRAVEL OR BOOKING PERIOD?
There are no plans to extend the travel period or booking period.
WHAT DOES THE $300 KING ISLAND HOLIDAY VOUCHER COVER?
The King Island Holiday Voucher provides $300 towards accommodation such as hotels, motels, B&Bs and holiday homes. It can also be spent on tours or attractions including activities such as guided walks, bus tours, food or wine tour, outdoor adventure tours, King Island produce or gift packs that are listed on the King Island Tourism website booking portal at www.kingisland.org.au.
WHAT WILL BE THE ALLOCATION PROCESS?
The vouchers will be issued via a random ballot selection process of valid registrations. Successful ballot recipients must then book and redeem their voucher discount directly through the King Island Holiday Voucher online booking portal.
HOW DO I RECEIVE THE KING ISLAND HOLIDAY VOUCHER?
Successful ballot recipients will be notified on 11th April 2022 by email and SMS and a unique King Island Holiday Voucher code provided.
WHAT IF I MISS OUT ON A VOUCHER?
There are only 700 vouchers available. At this stage there is no plan for additional voucher releases nor any appeals process.
HOW DO I REDEEM MY KING ISLAND HOLIDAY VOUCHER?
Once you receive your King Island Holiday Voucher you can search available accommodation, tours and attractions and book directly via the online booking portal at www.kingisland.org.au using the voucher code as a payment type when you get to the check out stage.
Bookings must be completed within the nominated booking period between 11th April to 20th April 2022 for travel or activities within the nominated travel period, being 1 May 2022 to 31 July 2022.
CAN I SPEND MY VOUCHER ON MORE THAN ONE PROVIDER?
Yes. in the booking portal put the dates for the first provider and select your preferred accommodation and add it to your cart, then use the booking portal again to search for your other dates, select the preferred accommodation and add this to your cart too.
Keep in mind that some accommodation providers have a minimum stay so if you select one night, some providers may not appear as available. Similarly, some tours and products are only available on certain days of the week, so may not show up in all searches. If you have any problems navigating the search function on the booking portal, please contact the King Island Visitor Information Line for assistance on 1800 645 014 between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm (AEST), Monday to Friday or 10am-1pm on Saturday.
I DO NOT HAVE A DRIVERS LICENCE, PROOF OF AGE CARD. CAN I STILL APPLY FOR A VOUCHER?
Yes, you can apply, you will be asked to select another form of ID that demonstrates you are a Victorian or Tasmanian resident. If you can not provide any of the forms of identification listed on the ballot registration form, please contact the King Island Visitor Information Line for assistance on 1800 645 014 between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm (AEST), Monday to Friday or 10am-1pm on Saturday – we may choose to accept other forms of ID at our discretion.
WHAT IF I SPEND LESS THAN $300?
To redeem the voucher you are required to spend the full value of $300 in one transaction. This means that the items in your cart must add up to at least $300. Any amount above the value of the voucher will need to be paid with a different payment method, e.g. credit or debit card.
WHY ARE YOU ONLY INCLUDING VICTORIA AND TASMANIA IN THE VOUCHER PROGRAM?
These states have direct flights to King Island. The voucher program also seeks to build on the marketing opportunities offered by the direct flights to King Island that have been done by several airlines.
DOES THE TRAVEL PERIOD INCLUDE THE NIGHT OF THE DAY LISTED IN THE ELIGIBLE TRAVEL PERIOD?
No, the eligible travel period ends at 11:59pm on 31st July 2022.
I WANT TO MAKE A BOOKING THAT INLUDES DATES PAST THE 31st July 2022, HOW DO I DO THIS?
You will need to make 2 separate bookings: 1. a booking for accommodation and activities prior to 31st July 2022 (this is where you can use your voucher) and a second booking for any accommodation or activities that is from 31st July onwards – as the voucher is not able to be used from 11:59pm on 31st July 2022.

WHO IS ADMINISTERING THE PROGRAM?
The program is being administered by King Island Tourism Inc and Tourism Tasmania.
I HAVE A VOUCHER AND I’M HAVING PROBLEMS BOOKING, WHO DO I CONTACT?
If you are experiencing any difficulties completing your booking or have questions, please phone The King Island Tourism information line on 1800 645 014 between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm (AEST), Monday to Friday or 10am-1pm on Saturday. The information line does not operate on Public Holidays. Any messages left via the contact phone number after closing during the booking period will be responded to and actioned on the following working day.
IF FRIENDS/FAMILY ALSO GET A VOUCHER CAN WE USED THEM TOGETHER ON THE SAME TOUR OR EXPERIENCE?
Only one voucher can be claimed per cart transaction. If two people in a group have received a voucher, separate bookings will need to be made on the King Island Tourism booking portal for each voucher code. WHAT HAPPENS IF A SUCCESSFUL BALLOT RECIPIENT IS UNABLE TO TRAVEL DUE TO BORDER RESTRICTIONS OR TASMANIA/VICTORIA IS IN LOCKDOWN?
In these instances, King Island Tourism will be guided by Public Health advice and will issue updated information and advice on the King Island Tourism website, www.kingisland.org.au. We advise all travellers to Tasmania and King Island to monitor changes to border policies through https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/
The cancellation and refund process for consumers will operate in accordance with each participating tourism businesses’ policies.
HOW WERE PARTICIPATING BUSINESSES SELECTED?
All King Island accommodation, tours and attraction businesses had the opportunity to apply to be part of the King Island Holiday Voucher program through a registration process.
CAN THE PRODUCT LISTING BE A GIFT VOUCHER?
No, the King Island Holiday Vouchers cannot be used to purchase gift vouchers.
CAN THE KING ISLAND HOLIDAY VOUCHERS BE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER TRAVELLERS?
No, the King Island Holiday Vouchers are non-transferable.
CAN THE KING ISLAND HOLIDAY VOUCHERS BE USED BY THE CONSUMER ON ANY DAY OF THE WEEK?
Yes, the King Island Holiday Vouchers are available on any day of the week, including weekends, subject to availability and during the stipulated travel period.
I SUBMITTED A REGISTRATION BUT I HAVEN’T RECEIVED AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT EMAIL. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
You may not have received an email for several reasons.
This may include:
- Your email address provided may be incorrect
- The email may be in your spam folder. We suggest that you check your spam folder and add email@example.com to your preferred folder.
If you have not received an email acknowledging your registration, please phone the King Island Tourism information line on 1800 645 014 between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm (AEST), Monday to Friday or 10am-1pm on Saturday.
I RECEIVED MY VOUCHER EMAIL WITH THE VOUCHER CODE BUT I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THIS EMAIL. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Firstly, you should try to see if you can recover the email from your trash folder. If this doesn’t work, you will need to wait until a second reminder voucher email is sent to you. Unfortunately, these emails are automatically generated with unique voucher codes, so we are unable to send manual emails to individual applicants.
Voucher codes will also be sent by SMS.
